Hey there,
I hope this edition Waylon Wednesday finds everyone cool and hydrated during this sweltering August month. I’ve been drinking water like a fish these past weeks as well as staying off the hot concrete whenever possible, and I can’t lie, I enjoy the nice breeze from our new AC that was just put in the other day.
Well, we have some good shelter news as of late: our momma dog, Jersey and her pups, are doing great! Their eyes are open and they are finally starting to eat on their own – the staff and volunteers are elated to see these little bundles of joy grow up.
In other news, Saturday Aug. 5, we had a great day at the Humane Society! We hosted our volunteer appreciation/open house, and it was a successful get together for our awesome volunteers and the community. There was plenty of food, drinks, and fun! All the kitties got plenty of pets, and the doggies got to play in the giant sprinkler we set up for them on a hot day. All in all, a fun time was had by everyone! We are looking forward to the next one we host and hope to see.
Last but certainly not least, we’ve had several adoption over the past couple of weeks. Including: Kevin who has been here at the facility for over five months as well as our two siamese kitties, lasagna and cinnamon girl, have found their forever home! But, we are truly grateful to hear that one of our senior dogs, Uncle Grandpa, is now living his best life with an elderly gentlemen. They are a perfect fit for one another! Everyone at the facility is overwhelmed with joy to see some of our wonderful animals leave, especially if they’ve been with us for some time.
Also, the Humane Society of Aransas County will be at Ace Hardware Saturday Aug. 25 with a few doggies, volunteer applications, and adoption forms to spread the word and of what we do here at the House of Hope! Feel free to stop by and say hello.
Stay cool out there,
-Waylon Jennings.
