Owner Surrender Policy

Please keep in mind that we are currently operating at maximum capacity for both cats and dogs. Intake availability is extremely limited due to the high number of requests and increased euthanasia rates at other local shelters.

Important Information for Owner Surrenders:

1. Photo Required – All surrender applications must include a photo of your pet. Please email a recent photo to hsacrockport@gmail.com for your application to be considered.

2. No Walk-Ins – Due to the overwhelming number of requests, it may take our limited staff time to respond. It may take a few days and we are unable to accept walk-in surrenders.

3. Space-Dependent – HSAC does not euthanize animals. Intake availability is dependent on kennel space and foster availability.
